Project 2996: We will never forget.....

Somewhere Out There
“I have a lot on my mind”
were the words he said
Understanding this, I nodded my head
There are days though I wonder – was he an illusion
Another part of my own fragmented delusion

His eyes were so sad, often heavily veiled
Making others to wonder ‘what is his tale’
He then shared with me his shattered broken heart
Whispers of truth; the day his world fell apart

His marriage was over, his dreams gone askew
The mother of his children no longer someone he knew
I listened intently to the words of his past
Somehow knowing these were not the last

As we sat on the patio in rainy wet weather
Huddled there, content being together
Not touching, though our eyes were locked
Hearing, not seeing, rain pounding on rock

That’s when I knew the moment had arrived
He would tell me more truths behind the mask of his eyes
He said, with tears in his throat, “My little sister died in a tower
On the day America knew its worst hour”

I could feel my heart crack at the words he spoke
As if I’d been asleep, then suddenly awoke
My eyes flooded with tears, I touched the side of his face
I felt God Almighty had lead me to this place

The days became shorter as we touched one another
With more of our truths; I talked of losing my brother
We shared a bond on those days of stormy weather
Wishing we could stay there forever, together
The real world awaited, I left with a prayer
Lord, help him find what he needs
           Somewhere out there.

In memory of Stacey L. Peak  and
all who lost their lives
9/11/2001
I pledge allegiance to the Flag
Of The United States  of Amerca
and to the Republic for which it stands
One Nation
under God
With liberty
and
Justice for All.

What a lovely tribute. I only learned about Project 2996 on September 10 of this year. I love the whole concept and hope to be involved next year.

That was very pretty. God bless us all, no matter our color, our creed, our beginnings or future.
